American standard for gaskets and pins

The national standard for gaskets and resilient gaskets (including spring gaskets and toothed lock gaskets) has changed considerably in recent years.

Standard number for flat gasket: ASME B8.221 has been cancelled. Flat gasket is combined with elastic gasket using one standard number ASME e18.21.1-2009.

The national standards for ASME H18.8.1 and ASME B18.8.2 for products sold in the United States remain unchanged

General requirements for all gaskets

1. Scope of application

(1) the range of sizes applicable to this standard is: spring washer 0#~3in toothed lock washer 2#-1%in; Flat washer

The 0#~3in standard covers the size range, physical properties and relevant test methods of the product

(2) the size information included in this standard does not mean that all the listed products are stock products

2. Relevant ISO standards

There is no ISO standard for inch series spring washers, toothed lock washers and plain washers

3. Washer type

(1) spring washer: spring washer includes the following four types: ordinary spring washer, heavy-duty spring washer and extra-large spring pad

(2) toothed locking washer: toothed locking washer includes the following types: inner teeth locking washer, outer teeth locking washer and tapered outer teeth

Note: due to the general flat gasket without hardness requirements are generally made of scrap steel plate, the material is not traceable.

8. Inspection and quality assurance

The gasket shall be free from burr, rust, flash, and other defects that may affect service.

Unless otherwise specified, the quality inspection shall comply with the ASME E18.18.2 standard.
